TOML
Obvious config format for humans and parsers alike.
Where it came from
TOML ('Tom's Obvious, Minimal Language') was created in 2013 by Tom Preston-Werner, co-founder of GitHub, out of frustration with YAML's edge cases and INI's flatness.
It found its home in package ecosystems: Cargo (Rust) made it mandatory, Python's pyproject.toml followed, and now it's the de-facto standard for project metadata.
How it works
TOML reads like INI with a type system: `key = value` lines, `[table]` headers for nesting, `[[array-of-tables]]` for lists of records. Values are strictly typed — strings, integers, floats, booleans, dates, arrays, inline tables.
Unlike YAML there's exactly one way to write each structure, so parsers agree with each other — no Norway problem, no surprise booleans.
UWC parses the full core spec: tables, dotted keys, inline tables, arrays of tables, dates.
Convert TOML right here
Turn TOML into JSON for scripts, or into YAML for documentation — all client-side.
